Anyone who has ever gone camping knows you might be able to build a wood fire for warmth, but unless you intend to stay awake all night, the fire is going to go out and you are going to get cold. And stay cold until you get another fire going. It can be exhausting over a camping vacation that is going to last a week.
A wood fire doesn’t do you much good in the tent either. They may be pretty and cook good hot dogs, but other than that, they are pretty much useless. We all know everybody thinks it is the thing to do. Some people have evolved a little smarter than that.
No matter what the weatherman says, cold weather can sneak up on you. A lot of campers who have had it with the part of the fun that says your feet have to freeze have turned to propane gas heaters. More effective and lightweight, they are easy to pack and bring on your trip. They continue to burn until the fuel supply is gone, and they will allow you go to sleep and stay asleep.
Old propane heaters that were used by campers could be dangerous. Although they burnt clean fuel, once the air is gone inside the tent, it could cause problems. Propane gas heaters companies have addressed that and there are models now that have a trip mechanism that allows it to trip off once the air is depleted.
Because they are lightweight for easy of use, they also might tip over. It is especially important to level the area where you are going to place the heater before you start it. Keep it upright, clean and covered when not in use.
Do not allow the heater to be on if someone is not at the camp site in case of a problem. Also, purchase a leak detector, which seconds as a fuel supply detector, so you know if there is a dangerous leak.
If you pay attention to these safety tips and read the tips and directions provided by the manufacturer, you can go on your camping trip and know, in addition to all the fun you can have during the day, you can going to have a full night’s sleep to recharge your energy for the next day.
